Housing Assistance

Home / Services / Housing Assistance

Tri-County has partnered with Rhode Island Housing to provide rental assistance and utility assistance to those who have suffered a financial hardship during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Qualified applicants may be eligible for up to 12 months of past due rent and/or future rental assistance. Assistance with past due utilities is also available. Utilities can include electric, gas, water, sewer, or fuel oil. You do not have to be behind on rent to apply for past due utilities. For those who are homeless or need to move to a new rental unit, the program can provide security and up to three months’ rent.

To be eligible, families must have a signed lease or rental agreement; be below 80% of median area income; have housing instability (includes past rent, past utilities, eviction notice, homelessness, other); and have an income loss or financial hardship due directly or indirectly to COVID-19.

Applications are accepted through an online portal.

Tri-County Housing Specialists are available to assist both tenants and landlords with the online application process.

The online portal can be tricky to use so we highly recommend calling us for assistance.
